It is with immense sadness and heartache that we announce the passing of Dawn Marie Maurer, beloved daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. After a long and courageous battle with lung cancer, she left this world on October 13th, 2025 surrounded by the love that she freely gave throughout her 55 years of life.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and family. She is survived by her mother and father, Linda and Harry Risher. Husband, Troy Maurer. Children, Matthew (Koren) and Christina (Jason) Maurer. And four precious grandchildren Elliott, Jamison, Reed, and Jason.
Dawn was the loving wife to Troy Maurer, her partner in life, for over 36 years. Through their decades of love and laughter, she was his counterpart in every moment. The absence of her sharp wit, smart mouth, and sense of humor will be felt most deeply in the home they shared.
Their love was a testament to a bond that was real, enduring, and deeply rooted in time and respect.
She was the cherished mother of Matthew and Christina. She shared a deep and meaningful connection with both her son and daughter. Their relationship was beautiful, fiercely loving, and full of unwavering loyalty. She loved them deeply in a way that can only exist between a mother and her children. A love that they carry with them to their own families.
Her favorite calling was that of "Grandma". Her four grandchildren, Elliott, Jamison, Reed, and Jason were the light of her life. Just the mere mention of their names would bring her such joy it could be read all over her face. She was their biggest fan for every school event, a confidant, a partner in mischief, an enthusiastic playmate, and the architect behind countless family
gatherings. She would often be found at the kitchen table in the throws of a wild game of Uno, an epic Monopoly show down, or curled up on the couch sharing her love of movies with her grandbabies.
Holidays were not just a date on a calendar to Dawn. She viewed every one as an opportunity to gather her loved ones together. She made every event significant, hand crafting them with love, filling them with magic, tradition, and a touch that was uniquely hers. She never needed a reason to throw a party. Any day was reason enough to gather her family close to her and
celebrate the simple joys of togetherness.
When she wasn't hosting a party or bonding with her family, she had many other hobbies and interests to keep her busy. Dawn was particularly passionate about her crafts, leaving behind numerous beautiful handmade memories that her family will treasure forever. She loved her plants and her garden, spending countless hours tending and nurturing them to grow. And
when life brought her indoors you could find her reading her favorite author with a few of her furry companions. Animals held a special place in her heart, and she was dedicated to her rescues. They were more than just pets, they were family that brought her true joy and comfort.
Dawn's final years were defined by an awe inspiring strength and grace. She fought with every ounce of her heart and soul, not only for herself, but for her loved ones. She fought for time. Time with her husband. Time with her children. Time to watch her grandchildren grow. Her fight was a powerful lesson in love and resilience.
She leaves behind a house too quiet, an empty chair at every table, and a lifetime of precious memories that will not be taken for granted. The crafts sit unfinished, the books may grow dusty, the holidays may not shine as brightly but the love she wove into her family is eternal. She was the heart of her family, and that love will continue to beat within them.
