Dawn Thompson Reyes unexpectedly passed away at the age of 60 in her home in Lenoir City, Tennessee, on September 15th, 2024.
She was born the youngest of four in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is survived by her two sisters and brother, as well as her husband, Steve, and daughter, Sarah.
After retiring from a wonderful and fulfilling 32-year career as a nurse anesthesiologist, she decided to pursue her long-time passion for writing. She successfully published two children's books and was completing her first fiction novel shortly before her passing. Aside from writing, Dawn loved expressing her creativity by painting any chance she had.
She loved all beings around her. Some of her final days were spent enjoying quality time with her husband, drinking coffee together in the morning, and afterward feeding the wildlife in their backyard. She took pride in expanding her knowledge-a true bookworm at heart-and welcomed any opportunity to grow in her learning. Her presence alone filled every room with brightness and love. She had a contagious, joyful smile and an equally infectious laugh that everyone who knew and loved her will miss dearly.
Above all, Dawn will be remembered as one of the kindest, most positive, and inspiring people anyone could ever meet. She made you feel right at home, no matter who you were, and had a way of touching nearly everyone she came in contact with, whether a fellow writer or a coffee shop cashier. She will also be remembered as the greatest, most loving mother to Sarah, her only daughter, having raised her almost entirely by herself. Her generosity and love of life will forever live on in Sarah, who loved her mother so much.
The celebration of life will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 26th at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Dawn will be deeply missed and never forgotten. May her legacy live on in all of us and continue to inspire us all to be better, kinder, and more free-spirited individuals.

I spent several years with Dawn working together in the EP lab. We were a very close team, really more of a family in that room and nothing will ever top the endless laughing and storytelling we shared day after day. She always loved keeping us up to date on what her daughter was doing and how college was going. She lit up when she spoke of Sarah, it was obvious she was so proud of her and you could tell they shared such a special bond. I can still hear her giggles when the boys would tell their jokes or tease her (because well, they´re boys and she was the room Mom). I remember her sweet hugs when I was having a bad day and her words of encouragement as I was figuring out my path in life. She still checked on me every so often throughout the years and we would spend a bit catching up. I´m thankful she found her sweet husband and she was loving her peaceful life in TN.
Beyond the beautiful person Dawn was inside and out, she was an exceptional caregiver. She always showed such grace and compassion to her patients and they loved her for it. I will always remember her that way. Sending all of my love and support to her family during this difficult time. Dawn was truly an angel on earth and will be missed by all.
