Dawn Helen Root

Dawn Helen Root, age 71 of Alma passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at Masonic Pathways in Alma. She was born March 8, 1952, in Alma, the daughter of Glenn and Leona (Daymon) Dringenberg. She was a graduate of St. Louis High School. She married Eugene Root on May 2, 1979, in Alma, a blessed union of 26 years until his passing in 2005. Dawn retired from Alma College after many years of service in the cafeteria and deli.
Dawn was an animal lover, especially to her fur babies, Sophie, and Gabbana. She enjoyed scrapbooking, decorating for the holiday, collecting angels and ladybugs. She had a special talent for arranging flowers and was an avid fan of murder mystery shows. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Dawn is survived by a daughter, Jammie (Tharen) Foster; a son, Michael (Beth) Root; four grandchildren, Landen, Caden, Genavieve, Raife; and two sisters, Cindy (Lee) Fabella, Penny Dringenberg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; her parents and siblings, Kim and Glenn, Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023, at 1 pm at Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Alma. Visitation will be held on Monday from 11 am until the time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requested memorials be made to the funeral home to help with final expenses.
