Dawn Marie Shields, born on April 12, 1970, passed away on December 10, 2025, in Greenville, South Carolina.
Dawn had a presence that was impossible to ignore. She was fun-loving, spirited, and known for her big personality, quick wit, and a laugh so loud and genuine it could fill a room. She found joy in even the smallest jokes and had a natural ability to bring energy, humor, and warmth wherever she went. People remember Dawn for the joy she carried with her and the way she made moments feel alive.
She was the daughter of Jody and Bill Watts and a sister to April Stranos and Virginia Valentin.
Above all else, Dawn was a devoted mother. She poured her heart into raising her children—Tim Johnson, Casaundra Johnson, Justis Weinmann, and Mandy Shields—loving them fiercely, standing by them loyally, and always showing up for them. Her bond with her children was deeply meaningful and rooted in love, protection, and unwavering commitment.
Dawn was a proud and joyful grandmother to Tim, Ruby, Jack, Sylvie, and Grant. Her grandchildren were a constant source of happiness for her, and she especially loved treating them—whether through thoughtful gifts, surprises, or simple moments of time spent together. Their laughter brought out her own, and she cherished every moment with them.
Dawn lived life on her own terms. She was honest, fiercely loyal, unapologetically herself, and deeply loving to those closest to her. As we remember Dawn Marie Shields, we celebrate a life filled with laughter, love, and lasting impressions. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all who were touched by her spirit.
