Dawn Raquel Smith, born on May 28, 1971, in Portsmouth, Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025. She was a devoted mother, loving grandmother, cherished sister, and loyal friend to many.

A proud graduate of Churchland High School, Class of 1989, Dawn pursued her education at Kee Business College and Tidewater Community College, majoring in Business. Known for her infectious personality, boundless kindness, and joyful spirit, Dawn touched the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Affectionately known as "everybody's mother," Dawn offered love, wisdom, and unwavering support to all. She shared a special bond with her nephews and lovingly embraced Ciara as one of her own daughters.

A dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan, Dawn found great joy in cheering on her team. She also loved karaoke, dancing, chatting with loved ones, and-above all-spending time with her family. It was nothing to catch Dawn belting out Patti LaBelle with her sister Suh, watching the game with Fat Rat, or just relaxing with her Romy (Toy). Her family was the center of her world, and her twelve grandchildren were her greatest source of pride and happiness.

Dawn is survived by her four beloved children: Shante M. Smith, Miesha M. Smith, Kevontae D. Smith, and Deandre D. Smith. She also leaves behind her cherished mother-in-love, Hilda White; six siblings: Anthony "Tee" Smith (Michella), Michelle "Shell" Smith, Duncan "Egg" Smith (Audra), Angela "Suh" Smith, Rhonda "Nana" Smith, and Jacqueline "Jackie" Mitchell (Bob); sister-in-law Yvonne "Janie" Smith; aunt Deborah Booth-Elliott; uncle William "Junie" Powell Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

She was preceded in death by her father, Leon Davis; her mother, Carolyn M. Powell-Smith; her brothers, Fred "Johnnycake" Smith and Richard "Shorty" Smith; and her grandmother who raised her, Alice "Mama" Hines.

Dawn's vibrant spirit, unwavering love, and radiant smile will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her zest for life and the deep love she gave so freely.
