It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dawn Marie Wilcox, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, who passed away on January 9, 2025 at the age of 50. Dawn fought hard, but eventually lost her four-year battle with breast cancer.
Born on May 24, 1974 in Somerville, New Jersey, Dawn Marie Wilcox was a woman of great warmth, generosity, and a deep love for her family and friends. As a devoted mother and wife, she created a home filled with love, laughter, care, and most importantly, food. Her loyalty to her loved ones knew no bounds, and she made it her mission to always support and uplift those she cared about.
A passionate cook, Dawn found joy in preparing meals that brought people together. Her kitchen was always filled with the aromas of her latest culinary creations, and no meal was complete without her signature touch. She had a special talent for making everyone feel welcome, whether it was a holiday gathering or an impromptu dinner.
Dawn was also an avid world traveler. She found immense joy in seeing the world. She loved exploring new places and different cultures. From immersing herself in the family heritage of Poland, to embracing the vibrant cultures of England, Ireland, Finland, Norway, Italy, Jamaica, Belize, Spain, Scotland, Northern Ireland, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Austria, Chechia, Estonia, Mexico and Iceland, she cherished the opportunity to see the world and share those experiences with those she loved.
Her heart beat true for the New York Giants. She would proudly display her loyalty for the team where ever she went, whether the Giants finished in first place or last place. Her love for the Giants began at a very young age, watching games with her father and brother, and it became a bond that she continued to share with family and friends in her adult life.
Music was another great love of hers, and it was rare to find a moment when she wasn't humming or singing along to her favorite tunes. Her love for music was not only a source of joy but a reflection of her vibrant, free-spirited nature. Bands such as Primus, Cake, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Joji and Juice WRLD were just a few of her favorites. She attended live concerts any chance she got.
Dawn is survived by her beloved high school sweetheart, best friend and husband of 35 years, Zak. She is also survived by her son Blake, her mother, Donna, her sister, Kimberly and her brother, Bobby, as well as many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Szymanski and both sets of grandparents, and multiple aunts and uncles.
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at the Viegut Funeral Home in
Loveland, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in her honor (give.bcrf.org).
She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her love, laughter, and legacy will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know her.
