Dax Mathew Van Ekelenburg

Dax Matthew Van Ekelenburg was born on March 19th, 2004, in Lincoln, Nebraska. He passed away on April 24, 2025 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee at the age of 21.
Dax was born to parents, Christa and Daniel Van Ekelenburg at Bryan LGH Medical Center in Lincoln. His little lungs were immature, and he was transferred to St, Elizabeth's NICU for 10 days until he was ready to come home. He was joined at home by his brother, Tristan, which was the beginning of their special bond and a lifelong friendship.
Dax was a loving, bright, special boy who brought joy and laughter to almost everyone he met and whoever was a part of his life. And almost everyone he met became part of his life.
Dax is survived by both of his parents, mother, Christa Van Ekelenburg from Lincoln NE, father, Daniel Van Ekelenburge from Rockvale, TN and his brother Tristan (Jayna) Van Ekelenburg of Murfreesboro, nephew Lucas and niece Alina. Also survived by grandmother, Linda Casey (Tom) of Lincoln NE, and grandmother, Rhonda Motis of Glasco, KS. Many other aunts, uncles, cousins.
Preceded in death by grandfather, Matthew Motis of Lake Wales, FL, grandmother, Debra Rosiu of Rockvale, TN, grandfather, Bill Makelin of Lincoln NE, and Grandfather John Van Ekelenburg of Lincoln, NE.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 29 at 1:00 p.m. at the Murfreesboro Funeral Home, 145 Innsbrooke Blvd, Murfreesboro, TN. Graveside service and interment immediately following the services at the Christiana Miller Cemetery with a motorcycle ride to the graveside for members of his motorcycle community and any others that would like to do so.
A reception/light lunch will be held following the interment at St. Patrick Anglican Church, 7103 Baker Rd, Murfreesboro TN. Please feel free to join us to share memories, lunch, laughter and tears.
