Dayl Inglett Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ames Monument & Cremation Center on Sep. 25, 2025.
Dayl LePaul Inglett, 73, of Ames, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Israel Family Hospice Home in Ames after a hard-fought battle with glioblastoma.

Dayl was born on April 6, 1952, in Spring Grove, Minnesota, to Ervin and Frances (Iverson) Inglett. He graduated from North Winneshiek Community High School in 1970 and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Landscape Architecture from Iowa State University, where his lifelong love for Cyclone athletics began.

In 1973, Dayl married his high school sweetheart, Julie Thune. Together they shared 52 years of marriage filled with love. He was a devoted father to Patrick (Erika) Inglett of Huxley, IA; Nicholas Inglett of Denver, CO; and Stephanie (Patrick) Erb of Boone, IA. He was a proud grandfather to Memphis, Greyson, and Malachi Inglett, and Hunter and Brooklyn Erb.

Dayl spent his life building Central Landscape in Ames, a business he founded that continues to thrive 51 years later. The legacy of his work lives on in every corner of the community he cherished-whether strolling down Main Street, visiting Reiman Gardens, walking the Iowa State campus, or stepping into the backyards of families across Ames.

He had many joys in life: cheering on the Iowa State Cyclones, time at his cabin, spoiling his dachshund, Friday night dates with Julie at Aunt Maude's, and time with his family. The Christmas season held a special place in his heart. It was his absolute favorite time of year, and it wasn't uncommon for him to leave their tree up long into the winter season.

Dayl is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Lowell (Elaine) Inglett of Decorah, IA, and his sister-in-law, Patricia Inglett of Janesville, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Frances Inglett, and brothers, Carroll Inglett and Neil Inglett.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 1:00–4:00 p.m. at Reiman Gardens in Ames. The family kindly requests no flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Israel Family Hospice Home or Reiman Gardens. A private family memorial service will take place at a later date.
