Jacquelyn Joy (King) Inglett, 95, of Battle Creek, Michigan died peacefully in her sleep at Bickford of Battle Creek on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.

Jackie was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 20, 1930, the daughter of Helen (Erickson) and Sam Duka. Helen died in 1932 and Jackie was adopted and raised by William and Louise (Brooks) King. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School with the Class of 1948 and attended Arizona State University, Kellogg Community College where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. In 1999 she graduated from Western Michigan University, Summa Cum Laude after 50 years pursuing her BA degree. Jackie retired in 1992 from the Hart Doyle Inouye Federal Center after more than 22 years of service.

Jackie married Malcolm Inglett in 1952, and they had four children before they divorced after 22 years. She is survived by her children, Melody (Martin) Matherly of Richland, Malcolm (Janise) Inglett of Virginia, Tracy Inglett of Virginia; and Jon Inglett of Battle Creek; ten grandchildren, Melissa Poggemiller, Shawn Matherly, Timothy Inglett, Brian Inglett, Angela Inglett, Michael Inglett, Joseph Inglett, Cynthia Inglett, Jacob Inglett, Joel Inglett; and 26 great-grandchildren, all of whom were the “Light of Her Life”. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Michael Anthony Duka and James Nicholas Duka.

Jackie was formerly a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church and was currently a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Battle Creek. She was also a member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), Miata Owners of Mid-Michigan, the Kalamazoo Area Zealous Miata Owners and several area square dancing and line dancing groups. Jackie served as a Cub Scout leader, Campfire Girls leader and on the PTA at Washington and Westlake Elementaries. Jackie participated in the Battle Creek International Balloon Championships for several years as a crew member.

She was able to maintain and live independently in her homes for 95 years. Jackie loved raising, showing and selling Persian cats. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crafts, oil painting, collecting dolls, playing the Mahjong Chinese tile game and especially reading. She loved having her family together for holidays, birthdays or any excuse. She will be remembered for her independence, intelligence, love of family, her devotion to lifelong friends and for her cat decorations.

Friends will be received 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2026, at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, where a memorial service to celebrate Jackie’s life will be officiated by Rev. Lorenzo Small, Sr. 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2026. The service will be livestreamed and may be viewed at: https://vimeo.com/event/5624670  A luncheon to share Jackie’s legacy and support her family will follow her service. Inurnment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery.
