Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert, Jr. was born August I, 1947, in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana to his loving parents Marcel and Helen T. Hebert and fell asleep on July 30, 2025, at the age of 77.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on August 2, 2025 at St. Bernard Church. A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge on August 1, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Visitation will continue on August 2, 2025 at St. Bernard Catholic Church at 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM.

Deacon Chuck Ortego will conduct the vigil service at 7:00 PM. Fr. Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Allie Hebert and Paula Granger. Gift bearers will be Sawyer Hebert, Lily Knott, Jolie Sage, and Gabrielle Stelly.

Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge.

Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert Jr. graduated from Breaux Bridge High School with the class of 1965. He attended Louisiana State University and graduated in 1969 in Commercial Dairy Manufacturing with a minor in Business Management. While in college, he was President of the LSU Dairy Science Club, President of the Southern Branch of the American Dairy Science Association in Mobile, Alabama and First Vice President of the American Dairy Science Association in St. Paul Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Hebert served six years in Co. A of the Louisiana National Guard and was honorably discharged as a Second Lieutenant. He was sales manager of Hebert's Creamery for three years. In October of 1974 Butch opened and operated Archie's Recognition Specialist until August 1, 2022. He attained the level Certified Recognition Specialist, a major level of achievement in the awards and engraving industry, shared by less than one percent of awards professionals nationwide. In 2010 he was awarded Citizen Extraordinaire by the Breaux Bridge Chamber of Commerce. Every year Butch and family members attended LSU football games in Baton Rouge. He was a season's ticket holder from 1969 to the present.

From 1987-1993 Hebert was in Deaconate Formation and was ordained a Permanent Deacon on June 26, 1993. This by far was the highlight of his life. He served St. Bernard Parish for 32 years, officiating at weddings, baptisms, wake services, and funerals.

He is survived by Patricia Brasseaux Hebert, his wife of 53 years, their children, Archie (Virginia) Hebert, Bart (Carrie) Hebert, Casey Sharlow, Daniel Hebert, Edie (Rusty) Knott, and Faye (David) Sage. Grandchildren are as follows: Gabrielle (Bodie) Stelly, Alec Hebert, Allie Hebert, Max Hebert, Timothy Sharlow, Sawyer Hebert, Everett Hebert, Parker Knott, Lily Knott, Pierre Sage and Jolie Sage; and his sisters, Peggy Guidroz, Christine Dupont, and Paula Granger.

Preceded in death are parents, Marcel and Helen T. Hebert; grandparents, George and Marie Hebert and Walter and Zulmae Thibodeaux; and his sister, Mary Lynn Thibodeaux.

Pallbearers will be Alec Hebert, Max Hebert, Russell "Rusty" Knott, Parker Knott, David Sage, and Timothy Sharlow.

Honorary pallbearers will be Archie Hebert, Bart Hebert, Daniel Hebert, and Bodie Stelly.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of Acadiana for the outstanding care and support provided to Butch. Many thanks to the St. Bernard Parishioners and the Diocese of Lafayette for their thoughts and prayers.
