BATCHELOR, DEAN R.

Portage, Michigan
Dean R. Batchelor, was born May 8, 1929 in Owosso, Michigan the son of Clare A Batchelor and Vera (Somers) Batchelor. He passed away on March 7, 2025 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Dean attended Owosso public schools, graduated from The Principia Upper School in St.
Louis, Missouri, and earned a Bachelor's degree from Michigan State University. He also
earned a J. D. degree from Detroit College of Law in the evening program while working and, in the process gave up a few things such as little league and church, choosing to brief cases at the o ce on Sundays. Upon graduation from MSU and while waiting for orders to report at the Navy's O cer Candidate School, Dean married Marilyn Boughfman and the sometimes exciting but always loving journey began. Naval Flight Training followed OCS with assignment to a jet fighter squadron in San Diego and deployment aboard the USS Boxer to the Far East. After about 4 years he gave up military life and returned to beautiful Michigan.
Dean's beloved wife, Marilyn, predeceased him after sixty seven plus years of loving each other. He is survived by sons, Jay (Andrea), Scott (Laura) and Dan (Wendy) along with seven grandchildren, Danielle, Michael, Remi, Amanda, Adam, Madison and Avery. Great-grandchildren include, Reed, Vincent, Cooper, Makenzie, Maddox, Liliana, Ryder, Teddi and Murphi. He is also survived by brother David (Evelyn), sister-in-law Joyce and and sister-in-law, Patricia Boughfman.
