Dean Hunsley Obituary
Dean Charles Hunsley, born in 1944 in Pierre, South Dakota, lived a life rich in diverse experiences and unwavering commitment to family. After the family's move to Broomfield, Colorado, and a stay in Arvada, Dean attended Arvada High School, where he graduated in 1962. It was during this time that he met and married his high school sweetheart, Barbee, on February 1, 1963, at her parents' home in west Arvada. Their enduring bond faced the heartbreaking loss of their first child, Debby, in 1967, yet their love persevered and in 1970, their second daughter Dianna, was born.
Dean embarked on his professional journey, initially working with his father in the construction of houses. His early jobs included delivering and hauling drywall. Then in 1963, he worked for Sigman Meat Company as a bacon slicer and a machine operator for 9 years. In 1972, he joined the Coors Brewing Company, where he dedicated the remainder of his career, retiring comfortably in 2001 as a Lid Feed Operator.
Retirement ushered in a new chapter for Dean and Barbee as they settled in Wheatland, Wyoming, allowing Dean to indulge his passion for mules. As a seasoned "mule skinner," he traveled the country, buying and selling over 80 mules. A move to Cheyenne, Wyoming, in 2010, provided Dean with enjoyment through acreage, ATV adventures, and cherished neighbors.
Dean's mechanical skills extended beyond his professional life, with a deep love for rebuilding jeeps, broncos, and motors. His knack for finding and revitalizing fixer-uppers, always with an eye for profit, showcased his skills. He was never without "The Truck" capable of hauling his big camper and mules. A keen observer and negotiator, Dean had a discerning eye for guns and an innate ability to strike a favorable deal.
Dean's love for hunting began at the age of 14, evolving into a lifelong pursuit. A skilled hunter, he never returned empty-handed, utilizing his mules to transport his hard-earned game. Mechanical equipment, such as snowmobiles, ATVs, and tractors, held a special place in his heart, leading him to serve as the president of the Tractor Pulling Club during his time in Wheatland, Wyoming.
Dean Charles Hunsley is survived by his loving wife, Barbee, daughter Dianna Lane (Rick), grandsons Ricky Lane (Sarah), Ryan Lane, and brother Devron Hunsley. His memory lives on in the hearts of nieces, nephews, and the extended family. While his parents, Charles and Louise Hunsley, sister Janice, are no longer living, Dean's legacy endures through the love and memories he leaves behind.
In celebration of Dean's life, a gathering will take place to honor his memory and share stories of a life well-lived.
