In our hearts we know Dean would have a "great one liner" to comfort all who mourn his passing.

Dean was an extraordinary man of great compassion, charm, quick wit and humor. Sensitive to the needs of others and a talent bursting at the seams. "The really good stuff is yet to come." One can only imagine what he and Jimmie had up their sleeves for the world to see.

Our deepest sympathy to all who knew and loved this great man. We will treasure our many years of friendship and miss him dearly.

WE ARE DEEPLY SADDENED BY THE SUDDEN DEATH OF A NEW FRIEND, DEAN JOHNSON. HAVING BEEN A CHILDHOOD FRIEND OF JIMMIES FOR MANY YEARS, AND HAVING DRIFTED APART AS FRIENDS OFTON DO. WE HAD JUST BEGUN TO REKINDLE OUR FRIENDSHIP. SPENDING TIME WITH DEAN AND JIMMIE WAS ALWAYS A REAL PLEASURE FOR US. WE WOULD LAUGH AND TALK FOR MANY HOURS AND ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD TO OUR NEXT VISIT. WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER DEANS GRATIOUS MANNER, HIS HEARTY LAUGH AND OUR JOKING OVER EBAY FINDS. OUR HEARTS GO OUT TO JIMMIE AND TO DEANS FAMILY. WE CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT A LOSS THEY MUST BE FEELING... DEAN, I KNOW YOUR TENDING YOUR SHEEP AND HAVE TRULY FOUND THAT GREAT RETIREMENT PLACE!SAVE US A PLACE IN YOUR GARDENS! JIMMIE, HOPEFULLY WE WILL CONTINUE TO GROW IN OUR FRIENDSHIP. WE ARE HERE FOR YOU.

To the family and friends of Dean Johnson,

As you mourn the death and celebrate the life of your beloved Dean, may you find consolation in the peace of God, and all of the exquisite pieces of his handiwork. Dean himself was an incredible creation. His talents and vision brought such joy and inspiration to countless admirers. I was always impressed, not only with his ingenious and unequalled creativity, but the kindness and humility that he had in dealing with those who sought to connect with him. He was indeed the counterpart to all that is trite and ugly in today's world. As the astronauts carried us into the future, James and Dean kept us firmly planted in our rich and valued heritage. Dean's gifts were unique, and the world is a better place because of his life.

At the news of Dean's death, in his memory, I immediately placed on our white goose feather tree, a winged boot so meticulously fashioned by James. On wings his soul has taken flight, and he now walks in perfect peace.

Even at a distance, please know that love surrounds you. There will be enduring enthusiasm and appreciation for that dynamic duo of James & Dean.

Love, Gretchen Shoemaker
