Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tasker Funeral Home - Dover on Sep. 26, 2023.
Dean Allen LeMire passed away September 20, 2023. He was 37. Born in
Tacoma, WA, he was raised in
Exeter, NH and made his home in the Seacoast area, most recently in Dover.
Dean was a mentor, connector, author, speaker and champion for harm reduction and recovery. His quiet authenticity drew people in, his huge heart offered hope and inspiration. In his various roles across the substance use disorder continuum of care, Dean has facilitated expansion of improved, person-centered, and community-based service delivery. Co-founder of numerous recovery and harm reduction focused organizations and ideas, Dean co-developed Recovery Coaching, A Harm Reduction Pathway with his dear friend, Jim Weulfing. His colleagues at NH Harm Reduction Coalition shared "he could bring logic and emotion together peacefully to ease a person into a new way of thinking", and his unassuming leadership will continue to resonate. He is remembered for his kindness, compassion, humor, intelligence and radical love.
Dean was a musician, a writer, an artist and a seeker. His creativity, empathy and curiosity combined into his unique humor and ability to talk to anyone about anything--which made you feel seen and valued. He was a master at making the ordinary, extraordinary, through witty observations, enthusiastic antics or quiet, heartfelt conversations, often all in the same moment. He is remembered with words such as: generous, patient, selfless, quiet strength, visionary, inspiring, great listener, and always remembered for his humor.
Whatever Dean was doing, he was all-in and it was "the best ever". Nowhere was this more apparent than in his devotion to his daughters, Audrey and Keira. Getting ready for school became an epic episode of dress up for the whole family. Sending a birthday greeting became a day of songwriting, art, and video production. Creating a fairy house with friends became a magical mansion--the Boom Boom Bungalow. Dean loved bringing the girls camping with his crew, and created special memories with Audrey on their annual white-water rafting trips. Dean's spirit shines through his girls' laughter, musicality, cleverness, imagination, playfulness and love for a little mischief.
Dean's impact on our hearts leaves us bereft, but determined to hold fast to his enduring love and legacy.
He is survived by his daughters, Audrey and Keira LeMire and their mother, his best friend, Ryan LeMire; his father, Guy LeMire and siblings, Brittany LeMire and Jess Santiago; his mother, Karen LeMire and grandmother, Mary Desroches, extended family in Texas and California, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who will miss him deeply. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Allen LeMire, Connie LeMire and Leo Desroches and by Gram, Patricia Nichols.
Friends are invited to call, Sunday, October 1 from 12-3 at Tasker Funeral Home in
Dover, NH, with a funeral service at 3pm. Services also will be live-streamed at St. John's 28 Cataract Dr, Dover NH, with a celebration of life and a time of remembrance to follow.
Family flowers only.
