Joan Kane Henry, 66, of Lee, NH, passed away on September 30, 2025, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Born on July 7, 1959, to Edward and Pauline (Legere) Kane, Joan lived a life defined by love, generosity and a deep devotion to her family. She had an unmatched gift of presence: showing up for those she loved.
Joan was an avid cook who loved gathering family and friends around her table. Her kitchen, especially when filled with extended family, her cherished "Familyhood" and some good music, was the heart of her home.
She drove near (ME/CT) and far (OH) to be with loved ones, always with flowers and gifts in hand. She spent the last few summers on Plum Island, always the first one in the water, enjoying kayaking and conducting "Memere School" with the grandkids while telling stories of her days teaching at Boston Public Schools.
Joan cherished her extended family and never missed a year of the Kane Family Reunion. She also rarely missed a sporting event involving her children or grandchildren. From little league to college games, no matter how far, Joan was there on the sidelines with a filled snack bag, full of pride. She loved Jeopardy! and bingeing her favorite episodes of NCIS, usually with her beloved dog, Striker, by her side.
But more than anything, Joan's world revolved around her family. She was a devoted daughter, a proud and loving mother and an adoring grandmother whose heart belonged to her grandchildren.
Joan is predeceased by her father, Edward Kane, and her brother, James Kane. She is survived by her devoted mother, Pauline Kane; her three beloved children: Tucker Henry, Elliot Henry, and Elizabeth (Ray) Andrews; her sisters: Kathleen (Peter) Marone and Ann Marie Kane; her niece and nephew: Andrew Marone and Lindsay Marone; and her cherished grandchildren: Lucien, Abel, Aurelia, and Ami Andrews, and Davis, Margaret, Cameron, and Cole Henry.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 4:00–7:00 PM at Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Avenue, Dover, NH. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 10am-11am at St. Thomas More Church, 6 Madbury Road, Durham, NH, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, 1561 Broadway, South Portland, ME. from 1pm-1:30pm
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joan's memory to the Dover Children's Home, 207 Locust Street, Dover, NH 03820.
Joan will be remembered for her generosity, her selflessness, and the unwavering love she shared with all who knew her.

I remember Joan back in her younger years. My brother was going with her friend Martha King and I asked Joan out and we went out a couple of times. As I remember, she was so cute, friendly and smart. A lovely young lady. I´m so sorry for your loss and I´m sure she´s in a much better place. Good bless her and my deepest sympathy to her family.
