Merle Parshley Wentworth, Jr., 81, of Dover, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Watson Fields in Dover, New Hampshire surrounded by family.
Merle grew up in Dover, traveled to and lived in many states, but came back to New Hampshire where he remained, raised his children, and built a life. Most notably, he proudly owned and operated ABC Lock and Key for over 25 years, where he met many people and made many friends. He was the only locksmith around that would show up in a dress shirt and dress pants, only to get grease on them. We believe he kept Cleary Cleaners in business for the last 25 years. His most cherished past time was drinking a cold beer and spending time with family and friends. He was never one to pass up a good time.
Merle is predeceased by grandson Drifter Wentworth and sister Marsha Poole. Survivors include his children Jason Wentworth of Maine, Tristan Wentworth and her life partner Jeff Hudick of New Hampshire, Tiffany Wentworth of New Hampshire; grandchildren Brent Lincoln and his wife Tori of New Hampshire, Kyle Evans and his wife Jenni of Maine, Aidan Mellencamp of New Hampshire, Autumn Wentworth, and her husband Jack Hahn of Maine, Sabrina Ellis of Oregon, Olivia Wentworth of Maine, Tyler Jackson of Maine, Garrett Jackson of Connecticut, Ethan Jackson of New Hampshire, Julia Jackson of New Hampshire and a very special great grandson, Jacob Lincoln, son of Brent and Tori. Additional survivors include his stepchildren Ron Linscott and his wife Irene and their children Stephen, Tori and Ryan of New Hampshire, Randy Linscott and his wife Dee and their son Zack of New Hampshire, sister Betty Love and her life partner Marcel Tancrede of Florida, sister Bonnie and her husband Sam Bittner of New Hampshire, sister Suzie and her husband Donald D'Orsay of New Hampshire, sister Sandra Sweeney of New Hampshire, brother Danny Wentworth and his wife Linda of Texas, sister Linda Wentworth and her husband Wayne of Alaska, an Aunt Barbara of Maine, and ex-wife Sharon and her husband Brad Gannon of New Hampshire, a very special niece Leah Cunningham of New Hampshire and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
A grave side service is scheduled for 11:00 AM, on Friday, October 10th at Pine Hill Cemetery, Court Street, Dover, New Hampshire. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an organization close to his heart, the Dover Children's Home, 207 Locust Street, Dover, NH, or online at www.doverchildrenshome.org, in recognition of the care he received there as a child.
