It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dean Webster Reed, 86, a beloved husband, father, and friend, who left us peacefully on December 16, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 28, 1938, in Mamou, Louisiana, Dean lived a life filled with love laughter, and hard work. He dedicated many years to his craft as a painting contractor in the construction industry, where he was known for his meticulous attention to detail and strong work ethic.  He was an avid sportsman, coaching the younger generation for many years, and a lifetime hunter. He especially loved hunting in the mountains.

Dean proudly served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on January 1, 1957, achieving the rank of Seaman. His dedication to service was a testament to his character and commitment to his country.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janis Reed, as well as his cherished children: Deidra Wooten (Robert), Regina Darbonne, David Fults, Shawn Goodeaux (Clint), Derrick Reed, Vanda Simon (Woodley), Michelle Granger (Sconnie), Kevin Reed (Laura), Ruben Reed (Michele) , and Madelyn Guidry (Lee), brother: Francis Reed, sister: Deborah McCown, 31 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

Dean's family was the cornerstone of his life, and he took great joy in being a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. A gentle soul with a warm heart, Dean will be remembered not only for his sense of humor, but his kindness and generosity, and his unwavering support for those he loved. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Dean at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on December 23, 2024. A public viewing will take place from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by a rosary at 12:30 PM. The funeral service will commence at 1:00 PM. His burial will follow the funeral at Consolata Cemetery.

In this time of sorrow, let us celebrate Dean's remarkable life and the legacy he leaves behind. May he rest in peace.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents Wesley and Amy Reed, brothers: Donald Reed, Vincent Reed, sister: Deanna Broussard, daughter: Kendra Fults and grandson: Nicholas Wooten. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Heart of Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
