Donna Sue Legans, 61, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026. She was born on June 17, 1964, in Marked Tree, Arkansas, to Wayman and Joyce Cossey.
Lovingly known as "Bub," Donna was a devoted wife, loving mother, and someone who took great pride in caring for her home and the people she loved. She shared 31 years of marriage with her husband, Jerry Legans. The two were married in her father's home in Walnut Grove, Tennessee, beginning a life together built on companionship, laughter, and devotion.
About fifteen years ago, Donna and Jerry moved from Mississippi and made their home in Lake Charles. Donna was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed decorating and making her house a welcoming place for family and friends. She was always ready to lend a hand, often helping Jerry with projects around the house. Over the years, the two shared many memorable trips together, enjoying the simple pleasure of traveling and spending time side by side.
Donna had a friendly spirit and was fortunate to have many friends who enjoyed her company. She appreciated life's simple comforts, including relaxing with loved ones and enjoying a cold beer among friends.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 31 years, Jerry Legans; her son, Doug Cossey; and her sister, Lisa Mancil and husband Larry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayman and Joyce Brown Cossey.
Donna will be remembered for her warmth, her devotion to her family, and the quiet way she made a house feel like home. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
According to her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
