Dean Thompson of Campbellsville, son of the late Charlie Mat Thompson and Edna Marie Skaggs Thompson, was born February 17, 1953 in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died Friday, September 26, 2025 in Louisville. Age: 72
He professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist Faith, having attended Lowell Avenue Baptist Church.
Dean was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom and later retired from Ingersoll Rand.
Dean enjoyed working on cars and especially watching his grandchildren’s activities.
He united in marriage to Penny Johnson April 20, 1984.
Besides his wife, Penny Thomspon of Campbellsville, he is survived by two sons: Matt Thompson and wife, Stephanie, and Brandon Rucker and wife, Bridgette of Campbellsville; three grandchildren: Piper Rucker and fiance, Gabe Gutierrez, Matilyn Thompson, and Maci Thompson; three brothers and two sisters: Mike Thompson, Danny Thompson and wife, Pam of Campbellsville, David Thompson and wife, Wanda of Bowling Green, Wanda Lewis and husband, Buck, and Sue Sprowles and husband, Coleman of Campbellsville; his mother-in-law, Charlene Johnson; one brother-in-law, Elbert Shofner.
Dean was also preceded in death by a sister: Louise Shofner.
