Deanna "Dianne" Pietras, a resident of Edison, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the age of 72. Born in Middlesboro, Kentucky, on February 23, 1953, Dianne was the daughter of the late Cread R. Ellison and Jana Gladys Ellison. She is survived by her longtime partner and fiance, Larry King and his children Mel King (Ashley) and Karrie King McKee (Scott) and grandchildren.
Dianne dedicated her life to the stewardship of nature, serving as the Chief Forest Ranger for Dougherty County. Her career spanned an impressive 34 years until her retirement.
Dianne's life was a testament to her love for the outdoors and her dedication to her work. She was a guiding light to her colleagues and a source of inspiration to many aspiring rangers. Her legacy will continue to live on in the forests she so dearly loved and protected.
Arrangements for Dianne Pietras are being handled by Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home. Her family, friends, and colleagues are invited to celebrate her life and honor her memory at a graveside service on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 3:30 p.m., at Salem Cemetery, with Rev. Keith Gaines officiating.
Dianne will be remembered for her kindness, her strength, and her unwavering dedication to her work and community. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dianne's memory to a local environmental conservation organization or humane society of your choice, to continue her legacy of protecting the natural world.
May she rest in peace, surrounded by the beauty of the forests she cherished.
