Johnny Hugh Simpson, a beloved resident of Arlington, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26th, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on Wednesday, September 30th, 1936, in Seale, Alabama, Johnny lived a life full of dedication, service, and love for his community and family.
Johnny was a devoted metal worker, spending over 20 years of his career at Sunshine Metals, where he was known for his exceptional skill and work ethic. Beyond his professional life, Johnny was a committed volunteer fireman for the City of Arlington, serving his community with unwavering dedication for over 50 years.
A man of faith, Johnny was an active member of Arlington Baptist Church. He had a passion for sports, particularly softball, baseball, and wrestling, and he cherished sharing stories and reminiscing about old times with friends and family.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mary Simpson, and his siblings, Billy Simpson, Walt Simpson, Sharon Simpson, Frank Simpson, Catherine Green, RosaNell Roberts, Shirley Trammell, and Gladys Simpson. Though he never married, Johnny was a cherished uncle and is survived by many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be held at Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 29th, 2025, at 2:00 pm. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the same location. Services will be officiated by Rev. Mike Goss. Johnny will be laid to rest at Oak Grove Cemetery in Arlington, Georgia. Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Goss, Danny Green, Michael Green, Tracey Green, and Jason Simpson.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Johnny's honor to the Arlington Volunteer Fire Department, reflecting his lifelong commitment to serving and protecting his community.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home. Johnny's legacy of service, kindness, and community spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
