Deanna Ruth Rumsey Cicchetti, age 83, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, on Saturday, August 30, 2025, surrounded by her beloved children and family. Deanna was born on September 29, 1941, in Morristown, NJ, to Earl and Kathryn Rumsey.
Growing up in Dover, NJ, Deanna attended the Dover school system and graduated from Dover High School in 1959. Shortly after, she married and, together with her former husband Aldo Cicchetti, Sr., raised four children.
For many years, Deanna was a dedicated stay-at-home mother; she effortlessly was able to get four children ready for school while preparing four lunches each school day and perfecting the peanut butter and jelly sandwich that could never be duplicated.
Her devotion to her children was boundless. Christmas was especially dear to her heart; she enjoyed decorating the house, preparing the festive meal, baking cookies, and creating a joyful atmosphere every Christmas morning, a tradition and a cherished memory that her family still treasures. She carefully chose gifts tailored to each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Deanna enjoyed watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and at 3:00 pm sharp, only "General Hospital" could be on the television. She was a fan of Disney, classic Western TV shows and movies, gardening (despite her ongoing battle with deer), coloring, and playing games on her tablet. Above all, she loved playing board games with her great-grandchildren.
Even as her children grew and started lives of their own, Deanna remained a constant presence, celebrating milestones, offering encouragement, and expressing pride in their achievements. She looked forward to hosting annual holiday dinners and cherished gatherings with her entire family.
In 2000, Deanna and her daughter Lisa purchased a home in Wharton, where she lived for the past 25 years. In 2007, Deanna retired from Howmet Corporation in Rockaway after 25 years as a Mold Injector.
She is survived by her children: Aldo Cicchetti, Jr. (Sue Friel), Lisa Newkirk, Christopher (Tami) Cicchetti, and Julie Cicchetti; her grandchildren: Christopher Newkirk, Jr. (Sarah) and Jamie Newkirk; her great-grandchildren: Destiny Newkirk and Sienna Sacasa Newkirk; her niece Maria Scott (David); grandnieces Amanda and Elyse; grandnephew David; and many other nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, Earl A. Rumsey; sister, Earline Ann Cortese; and brother-in-law, Carmine Cortese.
Deanna's legacy of love, warmth, and dedication to her family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 Route 10, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com). A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Sacred Heart Parish, Dover. Interment to follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover.
