Dickson Bredbenner, 93 of Dover NJ passed away at home peacefully on August 20th surrounded by family. Dickson was born on December 8,1931 in Drums, Pennsylvania. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and saw active duty from July 23, 1952-July 1,1954. Dickson had many passions, including the New York Yankees, gardening, cooking, and especially spending time with his family. Dickson worked for Westinghouse, owned his own trucking company, ran the Motor Vehicle in Dover, as well as, owning his own restaurant Bredbenners in Byram. He took great pride in the many years he sat as alderman for the second ward in Dover and as the Police Commissioner for the town.
Dickson was preceded in death by his father, William, mother, Catherine, brother William and daughter Debbie. He is survived by his loving wife Philomena, daughter Patty Marsh (Mickey), sister Pat Zuckerman (Terry), granddaughter Danielle Secola (Dominick Martin), grandson Gene Secola (Carolyn), granddaughter Nicole Witzig (Patrick) and grandson Matthew Marsh (Stefani). Dickson is also survived by his 8 great grandchildren Angelina, Dominic, Luciana, Lorenzo, Gino, Tyler, Amelia, Matthew, and Masie.
Dickson's love for his family was unprecedented. He loved having everyone around, telling jokes, and talking sports. If he wasn't watching the Yankees you could find him outside working in his yard, tending to his roses and hydrangeas. Holidays were a great reason for him to show off his cooking and love for all his family. Nothing made Dickson happier than when his grandchildren and great grandchildren came running through the door with a hug and a "Hi Pop!" His love and spirit will live on through his family and the many memories he has created.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 2:00-6:00 PM, located at Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph. A Funeral Mass will be on Monday, August 25, 2025, to begin at 1:30 PM, located at Sacred Heart Church, 4 Richards Ave, Dover, New Jersey 07801. Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover.
