Deanna Lynn (Dee) Santor, of Woodyard Lane, Au Sable Forks, died Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid, with her loving family by her side.
Dee was born in Plattsburgh, NY on July 2, 1947, the daughter of Richard and Leota (French) Perkins. She was known for her unwavering dedication to her work, her deep love for her family and friends, and her passion for storytelling.
On June 15, 1968, Deanna married the love of her life, John C Santor, at the Methodist Church in Au Sable Forks, NY. Surrounded by close friends and family, they celebrated their union with a joyful reception at The American House – a day fondly remembered by all who attended.
Together, Deanna and John raised two sons: John R Santor and Eugene F Santor. She was a devoted mother who took great pride in her family and found joy in watching her sons grow and thrive.
Deanna attended Au Sable Forks High School and loved her teachers and school, especially math and business class. Her first jobs were at Champlain Valley Physician's Hospital in Plattsburgh, where she worked in the kitchen, then at High Falls Gorge where she worked in the gift shop, and later at J & J Rogers Paper Company. Deanna then spent 32 years working her way up to a department manager at Tops/Grand Union in Au Sable Forks, where she was also a Shop Steward for the UCFW Union.
In addition to her dedication to her family and career, Deanna had a deep passion for local history and storytelling. She wrote a weekly article titled "All Around Au Sable" for the Adirondack Daily Enterprise and Lake Placid News, where her thoughtful writing captured the heart of her community and preserved its stories for future generations.
Bowling was a lifelong sport Deanna loved. Whether in local leagues or friendly games with loved ones, she enjoyed the camaraderie, competition, and laughter that came with time spent at the lanes. She participated in leagues for many years and helped organize countless community benefit events through bowling, raising funds for neighbors and families in need. Her compassion, energy, and commitment to helping others left a lasting impact on those around her.
Deanna will be remembered for her kind heart, quiet strength, and the love she shared so freely with all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband John C Santor of 50 years. Her parents Leota and Richard Perkins, her in laws Eugene and Eileen Santor and her brother-in-law James (Jim) Spear.
