Debbie Hendren Apfel left this world to be with the Lord on January 1, 2025 at the age of 70. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, and will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.Born on March 6, 1954 in Henning, TN, Debbie was the daughter of Jim Hendren and Billie Barham Griggs. Debbie was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Covington for 38 years. She dedicated her life to her family, always putting their needs before her own. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth, and her presence will be missed more than words can express. Debbies smile lit up the room, and her sense of humor brought joy to all who encountered her. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Jerry Apfel, her children: Jaime Hunter (Jerry), Kendra Parr (Donald), David Apfel, and Cory Apfel (Ashley), her 11 grandchildren: Jillian Hunter, Jasper Hunter, Jansen Hunter, Coco Parr, Sebastian Parr, Braxton Apfel, Jaxon Apfel, Bre Taylor, Wyatt Apfel, Owen Durham, and Luxley Apfel, and countless friends whom she loved dearly.Debbie taught at First Baptist Church Nursery School for 13 years and cherished the young lives she was able to touch through that ministry. In 2006, she dared to fulfill her dream of owning a business and opened The Freckled Frog Childrens Boutique on Covington Court Square. She made countless friends during her time as a small business owner and always spoke of her "froggie friends" fondly. After retiring from retail, she used her sewing talents to stay connected, monogramming for the public from home. Debbie was known for being the best monogrammer! She loved spending her free time quilting and sewing. A service to celebrate Debbies life will be held on Saturday, January 4 at First Baptist Church in Covington. The family will receive guests from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The service will start at 1:00 p.m. All who loved her are welcome to attend and share in the memories of a remarkable woman.Debbie may be gone from this earth, but her spirit will live on in the memories she left behind. She will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her, and her legacy of love, kindness, and strength will continue to inspire them every day.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the building center for First Baptist Church Covington.
