DeVargas Funeral Home of TaosDebbie C. Martinez age 66, a resident of Taos, NM, passed away September29, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her father Orlando Cortez; sister Barbara Gatlin; baby brother Michael Cortez; grandparents Abedon and Damiana Maestas, Amarante and Jessie Cortez; nephew Estevan Cortez; godson Christobal Ruiz; in-laws Helen and Alfonso Martinez; Jimmy Martinez and Louren Martinez.
Debbie was employed by St. Francis Catholic School as an Educational Assistant. She also worked at Mountain Home Heath as a Caregiver, and more recently at Ensueños for approximately 17 years as Direct Support Personnel.
She is survived by her husband, Elmer Martinez; children Christopher Martinez (Angel), Matthew Martinez and LeAndra Martinez; grandchildren Cas and Cayden mother Rebecca Cortez; siblings James Cortez (Rose), Michael Cortez (Melissa), LoriAnn Cortez (Rob), Frances Romero (Joseph) and Jennifer Cortez (Juan); in-laws Vicente, Shirley, Lawrence, Anthony, Laurie and Brenda (Ira); godchildren Daniel Martinez, Sarah Martinez, Amanda Romero, Lucas Sanchez and Bethany Alaniz; many nieces and nephews.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude for your love, support, prayer, food and donations.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to Ensueños.
Those honored to serve the family as Pallbearers are Christopher Martinez, Matthew Martinez, Daniel Martinez, Mario Ruiz, Antonio Cortez and Edward Hammer.
Rosary will be recited on Monday, October 13, 2025 at 9:00am, Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:00am held at San Francisco de Asis Catholic church. Burial will take place after the mass at the Arroyo Seco Cemetery.
