Jose Santiago Baca was born in Tucumcari, New Mexico, on June 15, 1943. He grew up in Tucumcari with his parents and 9 siblings: Tony, Stella, Patsy, Frank, Victor, Mary, Santana, Johnny Marie, and Tio Leonard. Jim Baca was an outstanding pillar of his community and dedicated his life to service, both in the military and locally. He served 3 tours in Vietnam then re-enlisted in 1974; retired from the Army in 1992 & then worked 10+ years for the Village of Eagle Nest, after doing some farming in Kansas for several years. Known for his kindness, humor, and unwavering dedication to those he loved, Jim Baca touched the lives of many.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Baca; his daughters, Vikki (Robert) Young and Erin Baca; and his 3 remaining granddaughters: Mellissia (Ray) Troyer, Bambi Almendarez, and Holly (Chris) McAdoo; 18 great grandkids & 12 great Great grandkids.
Public visitation will be on Thursday October 16, 2025 at 10am followed by the recitation of the rosary at 10:30am and the Mass of Christian burial at 11am at St. Mel's Catholic Church in Eagle Nest NM. Burial will follow at 12:45pm at the Angel Fire Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
