Debora G Moon

Debora Gross Moon, 99, of Worthington, Ohio, joined her ancestors on October 6, 2025. Mrs. Moon was a long-time, well loved teacher in the Worthington Schools, best known for inspiring her 6th-grade students in studies of science and the out-of-doors. During her career she was an active member of the National Science Teachers Association. Following the launch of Sputnik, she was a leader in the effort to upgrade science teaching at the elementary school level to face the challenge posed by the Soviets. She helped found the Ohio Council for Elementary School Science, was the first president of the organization and was a VIP guest of NASA for the launching of the Voyager 2 space probe.
Mrs. Moon was also an active member of the Worthington United Methodist Women, American Association of University Women's Club, Delta Kappa Gamma educators Honorary, First Investment Group and many other organizations.
Mrs. Moon was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Donald, and survived by three daughters: Adrienne (Fred) Lawrence of Dayton, NV; Barabara Young of Bear, DE; Carolyn (Frank) Voytko of Westerville, OH and eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great- grandchild.
