Deborah Surrett Boyd

Mars Hill – Deborah Kay Surrett Boyd, age 68, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 26, 2022.

Deborah was born October 6, 1953 in Buncombe County and had made her home in Mars Hill for the past 3 years. She was the loving daughter of the late William Surrett and the late Ruth Worley Surrett.

Deborah was a blessing to those who knew her. She was a lady with a kind and caring spirit and was always willing to help everyone she could. She was a devoted homemaker, a wonderful cook and her delicious homemade applesauce stack cake was a favorite of everyone. Deborah was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Leicester. She was a loving mother, deeply caring for her family, and her grandchildren were the light of her life. Deborah's precious memory will always be held in the hearts of those she loved.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Doyle Surrett, and Jerry Surrett.

Surviving are her daughter, Melissa Stanley and husband Bruce of Leicester; son, Billy Boyd and wife Tammy of Leicester; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ted Surrett of Leicester, and Reed Surrett of Tennessee; and a sister, Joyce Boyd of Tennessee.

To honor Deborah's request, no formal funeral services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in Deborah's memory in care of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home.
