Deborah K Dowden

Deborah Kay "Debbie" Dowden, born July 21, 1962, in Ft. Branch, Indiana, passed away on December 1, 2025, in Bargersville, Indiana. She was 63 years old.
Debbie dedicated over three decades of her life to public service in the state of Indiana. She spent 25 years with the Indiana Department of Transportation, followed by eight years at the Department of Administration. Her commitment and work ethic left a lasting impression on colleagues and the communities she served.
She is lovingly remembered by her partner, Richard Smith; her daughters, Jennifer L. Kelly, Stephanie A. Hommel, and Emily M. Hommel-Ferrell; step children Patrick J. Smith, Alex D. Smith, Kira M. Smith, and Jackson C. Smith; and her grandchildren, Walter, De'Ray, JJ, and Camille. Debbie also leaves behind her mother, Donna Lucas, and her brother, Richard Lucas.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald W. Lucas, and her brother, Grant C. Lucas.
Those who knew Debbie will remember her for many things-but perhaps most of all for her infectious laugh that could light up any room and bring joy to those around her.
