Deborah Garrity Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dello Russo Funeral Home - Medford on Jun. 5, 2024.
Deborah (Kapetanakis) Garrity, age 66, of Medford passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 4th. Born in New York City, she was raised and educated in Somerville, the daughter of the late John and Vera (Alexakis) Kapetanakis. Deborah moved to Medford 45 years ago. She adored her family, and doted on her grandchildren. Deborah was a huge animal lover, and when not taking walks in the woods with her cherished dog Laci, she enjoyed reading and listening to music.
Deborah was the beloved wife of the late John E. "Bia" Garrity, and the devoted mother of Jillian V. Washuta and her husband Ben, Christopher M. Garrity and his wife Leigha, and the late John T. "Jay" Garrity. She was the loving grandmother of Katherine, George and Jack, and dear sister of Irene Fotino and her husband Bob, and Stella "Bunny" Wilson and her wife Sharon Ormand. Deborah was the loving sister-in-law of Noreen Manzo and her husband Michael, and the cherished aunt of Evan Collins, Jeff Wilson and Scott Wilson. She is survived by many dear friends and neighbors.
A memorial service will be held in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Wednesday, June 12th at noon. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with Deborah's family from 10 am through 12 pm. Services will conclude with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

My first memory of Debi was a woman who had lost her son and was trying her best to come back from that. The longer I knew her the more I admired her for for the grace she showed through such a devastating loss as losing a child and then with Bia passing I think her heart was broken. She was a beautiful person in every way and I know she is holding them now, reunited once more in peace.

I met Debi in Massachusetts at the SafeLaunch Rise Above Addiction rally where we were able to witness our boy's names forever on the Wings after losing their battle with addiction. We remained friends in our group on FB. Debi loved her family...her son Jay, her son Chris and her daughter Jillian. She was one of my first fellow moms mourning the loss of our sons together. She was truly a compassionate soul. I wish i could have seen and helped her with her pain. If only..... My hopes are that Debi is now resting in the Arms of the Angels with her beautiful son Jay and her loving husband Bia. Rest in Peace now Debi....your struggles and pain are over. You have earned your wings.
