Deborah H. (Debbie) Moore

Deborah H. (Debbie) Moore was born on February 24, 1953, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Debbie peacefully passed away at home on February 12, 2024, in Nashville, TN.  She left us far too early in life due to cancer. 

Debbie was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend, and successful business owner. Her compassion and generosity touched the lives of countless people throughout her lifetime. Debbie is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Franklin Hamilton and Nellie Mae (Johnson) Hamilton.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Patrick Allen (Pat) Moore of Nashville, stepdaughter Jennifer Moore and her son Daniel Moore of Loveland, Colorado, brothers Charles Hamilton (LaRhesa) of Hackett, Arkansas and Danny Hamilton (Kathryn) of Norman, Oklahoma, four nephews, Charles Hamilton (Ashley) of Panama City Beach, Florida, James Freeman (Surene) of Hackett, Arkansas, Daniel Hamilton (Tiffany) of Edmond, Oklahoma, Joseph Hamilton (Amber) of Linn, Missouri, and niece Amanda Hamilton Bartlett of Moore, Oklahoma. 

Debbie grew up on a small family dairy farm in rural, western Arkansas, where she learned early in life the family values and Christian faith that would stay with her forever and guide her life.  Debbie excelled at academics, graduating first in her high school class in 1971.  She went on to work for Avis Rent-a-Car, while attending a local college. It was while working at Avis that she met her husband, Pat, who was then serving in the United States Marine Corps. They were married a year later and moved to North Carolina.

When Pat left the Marine Corps, the couple moved to the greater Nashville area, where Debbie founded The Font Shop, Inc., a typesetting/print shop.  The business rapidly grew and eventually evolved to become TFS Graphics, Inc., where Debbie was the owner and CEO.  Debbie was so loved and respected by her clients that it was difficult for her to sell TFS Graphics in 2007.

Debbie and Pat loved their home in Oak Hill and loved working in their yard.  She had a wide range of hobbies and interests, but Debbie excelled as a gardener, with a talent for growing most anything. And, she loved the out-of-doors.  The following saying, precious to Debbie, reflects her joy of working in the soil: “Who plants a seed beneath the sod and waits to see … believes in God.”

Retirement gave the Moores more time to go hiking and to travel, but Debbie was a true home-body at heart and regularly enjoyed hosting and entertaining friends and family, sharing her new culinary creations.  All who were treated to dinner or lunch with the Moores knew that Debbie was a fantastic chef.  She was the epitome of hospitality and graciousness, with a wide circle of friends.

Debbie possessed an empathy and willingness to assist in times of trouble that she extended to everyone, including strangers, and it endeared her to who to all who knew her.  No matter the problem or its severity, Debbie was always ready to help without judgment or criticism.

Debbie was known for her warm personality, her sparkling blue eyes, and her contagious smile. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved in her presence. 

Her legacy will forever live on through the lives she touched and the memories she created. Debbie's passing leaves behind an immense void in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be dearly missed.

For those who might wish to honor Debbie, the family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, a contribution be made to St. Jude’s's Children's Research Hospital, to The Wounded Warrior Project, or to a charity of the donor's own choosing.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service in the chapel at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home located at 9090 Highway 100, Nashville, TN 37221. Interment to follow at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery located at 7931 McCrory Lane, Nashville, TN 37221.
