Mrs. Deborah Anne Lemons

Deborah Anne Lemons was called home to rest on Sunday, September 21st, 2025, at Piney Forest Health & Rehabilitation Center. Deborah was born on October 28th, 1959, at Danville Memorial Hospital to the late Robert Hairston and Maedene Parker Barksdale.

Deborah graduated from Dan River High School in the Pittsylvania County Public School System. She held various jobs throughout her life, working mostly in tobacco processing facilities in her younger years before transitioning to nursing, where she served as an in-home nurse until her retirement.

Deborah loved her family and enjoyed singing. She professed her life to Christ at an early age at Hackberry Missionary Baptist Church under the tutelage of Reverend J.H. Garland. Later, Deborah became a member of Vance Street Baptist Church, Smith Chapel Baptist Church, and lastly Pleasant Chapel Baptist Church, where she attended until her health declined.

Deborah met and married the love of her life, the late Forest Lemons, in 1978 when she was 19 years old. They remained married for 40 years until his death in 2018.

In addition to her husband and parents, Deborah was predeceased by her grandparents, Witcher and Melvin Parker of Pittsylvania County.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one brother, Joel Barksdale; two sisters, Anita Hodge (Anthony) and Lisa King (Ralph), all of Danville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Mrs. Deborah Anne Lemons will be held at 12:00 noon., Friday, September 26, 2025, at Hackberry Missionary Baptist Church, 2026 Hackberry Road, Sutherlin, Virginia. Rev. Jermaine Parker, Associate Pastor, Truth and Worship Center, Eulogist. Pastor Jonathan King, Trinity Baptist Church, Officiant.

The family will be receiving friends and family at the residence of a sister Mrs. Lisa King, 342 Withers Circle, Danville, Virginia, on Tuesday and Wednesday, from the hours of 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. The family is asked to assemble at the church at 11:45 a.m. on the day of service.
