Deborah Anne Roper
Beloved wife,mother,grandmother, and sister was born on November 13,1959 in
Amityville,NY from her two loving parents Donald Hunter and Mary Williams. She was known as Debbie or Aunt Debbie from her family whom she loved so much. Deborah was also a loving sibling to Joyce Golson,Gary Hunter, Yvette Hunter,Dwayne Porter,Tara Hunter,and the late Kim Hunter.
She had 3 beautiful children, One daughter: Kinte Mc Nair and Two sons : Michael Hunter & Phillip Hunter which she cherished with all her heart from their father Moses Mc Nair.
Deborah married the love of her life Pagene Roper on August 26th 1993 she cherished him with all her heart and was always there for him through sickness and health whenever she needed him as well as whenever he needed her.
Deborah had a zest for life and cherished spending time with her family. Whether it was cooking, cleaning or traveling, watching tv as well as listening to music she always had a smile on her face and a loving spirit.
Deborah had a fondness for seafood,pig feet, her famous tuna noodle salad which she always made for every family function, fried chicken, potato salad, cabbage as well as other traditional dishes she loved to cook.
Her sister:(Joyce Golson) Brother-in-law (Trevor) grandchildren,kids,husband as well as her daughter-in-law were her greatest joy in her life. Deborah's favorite place in the world to visit was Brentwood New York where her sister, niece and brother-in-law reside. She enjoyed herself by laughing, joking, listening to music ect.It was a second place that she could call home. Her favorite saying whenever her son Phillip would kiss her on the cheek would be "stop it Phillip alright now that's enough " he would do that to distract her while she would be sitting at the kitchen table playing games on her phone or would be blowing kisses to her two grandchildren whom she adored so much.
Deborah worked as a smoke monitor for 10 years during her professional career which she retired from in 2023. In October 2023 Deborah,Phillip and her husband decided to move from Long Island NY to Macon Ga where they had resided with her cousin-in-law (Junita Jackson) for many years to be reunited with their family. Sadly after she, her husband and her son made their transition to Georgia living there only a few months she encountered a fatal illness which resulted in her passing on May 14,2024. She had the opportunity to explore different places throughout her life including Maryland,Pennsylvania,New Jersey, Georgia, and Albany. She embraced each new experience with excitement and curiosity.Deborah leaves behind a lasting legacy through her children:Late Daughter Kinte Mc Nair, two sons Michael Hunter,(wife) Jameena Hunter and Phillip Hunter. Her grandchildren:Frank Griffin, Paris Griffin,Arianna Wood,Kinteyah Thompson,Novah Hunter, Az'arie Hunter as well as 3 Great-grandchildren: Madison,Mikayla and Kehlani were a source of immense joy in her life and a host of nieces, nephews,aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her Father Donald Hunter, Mother Mary Williams,Sister Kim Hunter,Niece Latoya Griffin and Daughter Kinte Mc Nair. She will be deeply missed by her husband Pagene Roper and Mother-in-law Angalene Anthony and all those who knew and loved her.Deborah's warm smile,loving nature and cherished memories will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace.
