Deborah Shepherd Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kendrick McCartney Johnson Funeral Home on Dec. 9, 2025.
Deborah Jean Shepherd, 70, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, OK.

Debbie was born January 21, 1955, the daughter of James R. and Dorothy "Dottie" Mae (Heskew) Alexander. She attended schools in Bowring and Pawhuska, graduating from Pawhuska High School with the Class of 1974. On December 29, 1976, she married Roger Shepherd in Hulah, OK. Over the years, Debbie wore many hats. She was a Certified Nurse Aide and helped care for numerous individuals in the Pawhuska area over the years. She was an avid supporter of the local 4-H programs and a member of the Extension Homemakers Club. Debbie was also an animal lover who enjoyed the various animals she raised, as well as being a caretaker for other pets when their owners were away. She enjoyed working alongside Roger for several years at the Pawhuska Senior Citizens Center, where she served as the cook who prepared the daily meals and coordinator of various events. Many were also familiar with her floral talents as each year she made and sold Memorial Day sprays to the community.

Surviving family includes her husband, Roger, of the home; daughters, Heather Shepherd of Pawhuska, and Melinda Richardson of Winfield, KS; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and sister, Carla Blythe. Debbie was preceded in death by two infant daughters, her parents and sister, Vicki Alexander.

A memorial service will be held Friday, December 12, 11:00AM, at the Dave Landrum Community Center in Pawhuska. Lunch will follow.
