Obituary for Debra Joy Byrd Devou
Debra Byrd Devou, 66, of Fort Myers Florida, entered into God's loving arms on Sunday, June 22, 2025.
Debi was born in Baltimore, Maryland on January 2, 1959, to James and Audrey Byrd, who proceeded her in death. She was a graduate of Asheboro High School, Asheboro NC and University of Maryland, Baltimore.
Debi had a long and successful career in banking. She served in many roles, ultimately, becoming a Senior Executive. She and Greg retired in 2012 and moved to Florida.
She is survived by her loving husband, Greg Devou, whom she married in 2010. She is also survived by brothers, Jimmy (Kathryn) Byrd, Donny Byrd, sisters, Cathy(Tim) McKenzie, Laurie(Greg) Lundy, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. In addition, three step children and six step grandchildren. Although she never had children of her own, she loved her step children and step grandchildren like they were her own.
Debi and Greg loved to travel in the US and abroad, play golf, and just being with their many loving friends in their wonderful neighborhood in Southwest Florida. Her love of family and spending time together were evidenced by the numerous road trips made up and down the East Coast. Debi leaves us with a legacy of strength over circumstances and courage in the face of fear. Debi never lost faith in God or her love for her Savior, Jesus Christ. Her legacy is an inspiration to all who knew her.
Debi was a member of the Shadow Wood Country Club where she loved playing golf and socializing with her many friends. Debi will be missed immensely by her family and friends who were are honored to be the recipient of her selfless acts of kindness and generosity.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Interfaith Charities of South Lee, 17592 Rockefeller Cir, Fort Myers FL, 33967, where Debi served as a Board member, Volunteer Committee Chair and was very dedicated to their causes.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 12, at the Estero Church, 808 Lords Way, Estero, Florida at 11:00 AM. For those unable to attend, live streaming will be available on YouTube at Celebration of Life Debra Joy Byrd-Devou. Reception will follow at Shadow Wood Country Club, 22801 Oakwilde Blvd., Estero, Florida.
