Debra Anne Adams Cooper, "Derby" to her grandchildren, passed away peacefully in the arms of her beloved daughter on July 26, 2025, and is now in the arms of her Lord Jesus Christ. She was born in Baton Rouge on October 23, 1950. Her legacy is one of quiet strength, unwavering loyalty and deep love for family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Prioritizing family above all, she traveled for months at a time to be with her grandchildren. She expressed thoughtfulness in the consistent way she sent cards, newspaper clippings and memorabilia to those she loved. Debra was a faithful worshipper and member of First Presbyterian Church, a community that embraced, encouraged and prayed for her. Her small group Bible study, Circle 11, was especially important to her.

Debra graduated from Broadmoor High School in 1968. She was employed by the Louisiana Department of Public Safety in New Orleans, the U.S. Postal Service, and H&R Block. Her extended battle with cancer was difficult, yet she remained optimistic and cheerful in that fight.

Debra was preceded in death by her father, William H. Adams Jr., mother, Doris A. Fox and brother Thomas Adams. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert B. Cooper; daughter Diane Cooper Fielding (Russell); grandchildren, Conrad and Margaux Fielding; brother, William H. "Bobby" Adams III (Libby); step-sister Donna Jo Donahoe; nieces and nephew: Brittany Adams, Quincy A. Vincent (John), William H. Adams IV (Bonnie), Claire A. Stafford (Will), Chris Davis (Luis) and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Special thanks from the family to the ICU staff of Baton Rouge General Hospital-Bluebonnet for their expert care.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. followed by the Celebration of Life Service at 11 a.m., Monday, August 11th, 2025 in the Dunham Chapel at First Presbyterian Church, 763 North Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Presbyterian Church, Baton Rouge.
