Debra Geitner Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Huehns Funeral Home, Inc. & Door County Crematory LLC - Sturgeon Bay on Jun. 19, 2025.
Debra Lou Geitner, 73, of Sturgeon Bay, formerly of Kaukauna, fell asleep in the loving arms of her family at home, and awoke in the arms of the Lord on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
Debbie was born February 12, 1952 in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of Paul Wayne Peterson and Pamella Lou (Prange) Peterson, and graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School with the class of l970. Debbie and John Geitner were high school sweethearts and later were united in marriage on October 2, 1971.
During high school, Debbie worked with Cliff and Wayne Harmann at Harmann Studios in Sturgeon Bay. Her professional career primarily was with American Can Company in Neenah, where she was a Customer Service Representative, responsible for the Kraft Food Company account.
Debbie will be remembered by how important her family was to her. Attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting events, which were many, was always a priority for her. She especially enjoyed holiday family gatherings – and singing the traditional family favorite, The Twelve Days of Christmas. She was generous, thoughtful, caring and complimentary to everyone she knew. Her favorite pastimes were walking the beach looking for glass, watching the sunsets, enjoying the flowers in her garden, and every other aspect of nature. Plus, working with her sister at the Meleddy Cherry Orchard always was a special delight. Debbie had a strong faith in the Lord, which helped her throughout her life. Most importantly, she had a lasting, unwavering love for John.
Debbie's love will live on in the hearts of her husband, John, with whom she shared over 53 years of marriage; her children, Aaron Geitner of Kaukauna and Justin (Chaunte) Geitner of Appleton; grandchildren, Bennett, Oriana, and Adalia Geitner; siblings, Jeff (Patti) Peterson of Sturgeon Bay, Tom (Linda) Peterson of Blaine, MN, and Susie (Tom) Selvick of Sturgeon Bay; siblings-in-law, James (Debra) Geitner of Sturgeon Bay, and Ann Hendricks of New Franken; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Geitner; her parents; parents-in-law, Edwin and June Geitner; and brother-in-law, Gary Hendricks.
Debbie's life will be celebrated privately by family and friends at a date later in the summer.
Memorials may be given in her memory to Kathy's House, a hospital guest house in Milwaukee (9100 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, WI, 53226; kathys-house.org).
Heartfelt thanks go out to the staff at Froedtert Hospital for the wonderful and compassionate care given to Debbie.
