Debra Mayne Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Kearney on Nov. 12, 2024.
Debra "Debbie" Lavern Mayne died November 4, 2024, in Kearney, Missouri. Debbie was born May 20, 1952, to Donald L and Barbara Jean Mabey in Burley, Idaho.
Passionate, strong, and intelligent, no one could match her energy. Debbie was a gardener, humanitarian, musician, artist, and educator. Always learning, she practiced and mastered so much: Cake decorating, quilting, crocheting, ceramics, poetry, cooking, sewing, horsemanship, bookkeeping, and event planning. She worked tirelessly on the ranch with her husband and children. She was an efficient, compassionate, and highly organized leader. Her constant, steady love and influence impacted thousands of lives of all ages. She was beautiful inside and out.
She graduated from Oakley High School and studied Radiology, in Utah. She married David Mayne on December 1, 1973, and they made their home in Gypsum, Colorado. They had six children, and she was a caring mother and a loving advocate for them. She loved her Savior and devoted her life to Him. Debbie was a gifted seminary teacher, teaching early morning seminary for over 20 years, and became a second mother to many. Debbie and Dave served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Nauvoo, Illinois, where they gave historic tours and wagon rides, bore testimony, and sang and danced in the musical show "Sunset on the Mississippi." Married for over 50 years, she devoted her life to her family. While she will be missed, she lives on through the countless lives touched by her kindness.
She is survived by her husband, David Ross Mayne; sister, Charie Hulse; sister-in-law, Sherry Mabey; daughters, Danni and Diane; sons, Donald, David, Dustin, and Dean; four daughters-in-law; and 21 grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 202 W. 19th St., Kearney, MO 64060.

Debbie was the Liberty Stake Young Women's president while I was the YW camp director. We had many lovely memories with the girls.

Debbie is my cousin. I remember a summer I spent in Oakley ID with my grandparents. Although my brother and I spent most of our time down at Debbie's house. We hauled hay all summer and worked at helping out at the ranch/farm. Debbie was Oakley Rodeo Queen that year and we went to a lot of rodeos with her and her parents. She took us into town to see a movie, small theater and since the movie has started we got in for free. We pretty much spent every night sleeping outdoors on the front lawn at Debbie's home. She was always fun to be around and she liked everybody. I have not been able to see much of her and Dave over the years but I remember going to Gypsum CO and visited. I did not have her address so I stopped in town and asked where Dave and Debby Mayne lived and they told me. Had nice visit and even went camping with them. Debby will be missed but will always have a place in my heart for being such at great cousin and loving person.

We love Debbie. She was always so vivacious and pleasant to be around. We were her and her husband's neighbors in Nauvoo. What an example she was of Christlike love. Much love to Elder Mayne. Gary and Prudy Gneiting.

Debbie and Dave served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Nauvoo, IL around 2013. They were shining examples of faith, love, and service.
My late wife, also a Debbie, sand I were also there. My wife was chronically ill, though. Debbie Mayne made her a beautiful triangular white sparkly scarf. My Debbie treasured it and loved the giver. My wife passed away 6 weeks after we completed our mission, and we buried Debbie Mayne's white scarf with her.
