In the grand tapestry of life, some threads are woven with such vibrancy and strength that their absence leaves a noticeable void. It is with a heavy heart we announce the departure of one such thread, Debra Kay Pepers-Newton, lovingly known as Debi, who left us on October 23, 2023. Born on June 3, 1962, in sunny
San Diego, CA, she breathed her last in
Bakersfield, CA, after a courageous battle against a stroke.
Debi's life was a testament to the power of love, intelligence, and generosity. She was a beacon of light to her family, friends, and all those who had the privilege to know her. Her life journey was rich with experiences, achievements, and most importantly, profound relationships that she cherished dearly.
Debi's educational journey led her to study Pharmacy Technician at San Joaquin Valley College. She then dedicated her professional life to sharing her knowledge and passion with others, teaching Pharmacy Technicians at SJVC, SBBC, and UEI College. Her expertise also extended to the corporate world where she served as an Accountant for Ruben Express Inc / Norcal Trucklines Inc. Debi's work was not just a profession; it was a mission that she pursued with relentless dedication and utmost sincerity.
However, Debi's life was not all work and no play. She held a deep affection for her hobbies. Her love for painting and swimming was only surpassed by the joy she derived from being a grandma. The twinkle in her eyes when she was around her grandchildren was a sight to behold. Debi was also an avid jewelry collector, her collection reflecting her exquisite taste and love for beauty. She also loved spending time in Morro Bay with her husband Dan, and all those who joined them. A favorite meal of Fish n Chips at the Lil Hut with family was a moment she truly cherished.
Debi's family was her pride and joy. Her love story with her spouse, Daniel Newton, was one of mutual respect, deep affection, and unwavering commitment. She was a loving mother to Taylor Ortiz, Jordan Zinn, Nikka Newton, Matthew Newton, Daniel Newton Jr., and Stacy Aldrich. She also cherished her relationships with her sons-in-law and daughters-in-law. Debi was a doting grandmother to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose lives she enriched with her wisdom and love. Her bond with her 9 siblings was equally strong, and she treasured the memories and moments shared with them.
To quote the inspiring words of Helen Keller, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Debi embodied this spirit, leaving an indelible imprint on the hearts of those she loved and loved her in return. She was a woman who knew how to love deeply, live fully, and leave a legacy of grace and strength.
As we bid farewell to Debi, we remember her not with sorrow, but with gratitude for having been a part of her incredible journey. Her life was a testament to the power of love, intelligence, and generosity. We honor her memory by continuing to live our lives with the same passion, love, and kindness that she demonstrated every day.
Debi's life was a beautiful journey, marked by resilience, love, and an unwavering spirit. Her departure from this world is not an end, but a transition to a place where there is no pain, only peace. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched, her legacy etched in the annals of time. Today, as we remember Debi, we celebrate a life well-lived, a love well-shared, and a spirit that will continue to inspire and guide us. Rest in peace, Debi, your memory lives on.
