It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Debra A. Rea, who left us on Friday, October 17, 2025. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose love knew no bounds.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Beatrice (nee Snyder) and Charles Larsen; her sister, Joan Persson; and her brothers-in-law, Harold Persson and Alva J. Palmer.
Debra is remembered as a devoted wife to James F. Rea and a loving mother to Jennifer (William) Hazer (nee Scott). She took great pride in her role as a grandmother to Madeline, Jacob, and Alexander Hazer, and her face would light up at the mere mention of their names. Additionally, she was a supportive stepmother to James M. and Pamela A. Rea. Debra is also survived by her cherished sister, Sharlene Palmer, and her dear lifelong friend, Donna (Michael) Buchhaas, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Debra's life revolved around her daughter, Jennifer, who truly was the light of her life. Her unwavering support and unconditional love were evident to all who knew her, showcased through countless sporting events, school activities, and thoughtful gestures that reminded Jennifer of her presence. Debra treasured her role as a grandmother to Madeline, Jacob, and Alexander, who filled her life with immense joy and pride.
A devoted animal lover, Debra had a heartfelt devotion to dogs. She poured her time and energy into caring for her furry friends, and her compassion for animals shone through in all her actions. Her home was always filled with warmth, love, and the joyful sounds of paws padding across the floor. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Debra will be profoundly missed by her family and friends, who will carry her memory in their hearts forever. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the South Suburban Humane Society, honoring Debra's commitment and love of animals.
