Debra Schultz Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 10, 2025.
Debra Ann Schultz, age 68, of Navarre, Florida, passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, September 8, 2025.

Debbie was born on June 3, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois, to James Albert Malouf and Ann Marie Malouf of Wisconsin Rapids, WI. She grew up in Glendale Heights, IL with her family and friends. She attended Glendale North High School, where she participated in school activities. Debbie aspired to enter the workforce immediately after graduating from high school and began her career at Motorola Corporate Campus in Arlington Heights, IL, initially working in circuit board assembly. She subsequently progressed into roles within international logistics, engineering, and administration. Over her 29-year tenure, Debbie received multiple employee service awards and was recognized for her effective collaboration with colleagues.

Debbie met her future husband, Mike Schultz, in October 2001, and they were married in November 2002. The couple settled in Oswego, IL, where Debbie and her son Michael benefited from a nurturing and supportive family environment. She frequently spent time with family and friends enjoying the backyard pool. She was fond of caring for the family dogs, dedicating time to their training, walks, and grooming. Debbie also appreciated board games, poker, and other card games, particularly when playing with her sisters, whose competitive enthusiasm she valued. Additionally, Debbie and Mike often engaged in extended backgammon matches together during the winter evenings enjoying the warmth of the fireplace.

In 2013, Debbie, Mike, and Debbie's father, Jim relocated to Canton, GA, beginning a new chapter in their lives supported by a reliable network of friends. Weekend activities often included boating on Lake Lanier with her father and their dog, Rambo. Additionally, Debbie regularly participated in trivia events with her friends and enjoyed father-daughter outings that involved shopping, dining at restaurants, and bowling.

Upon retirement, they chose to relocate to Navarre, Florida, drawn by its consistently mild climate and pristine white beaches along the emerald coast. Debbie also benefited from having long-standing friends in the area, with whom she regularly enjoyed activities such as shopping, going to the beach and socializing.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Anthony James Malouf; her sister, Nadine Theresa Goldstein, and her brother, Edward James Malouf.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband, Mike; her son, Michael Paul Thompson Jr, his wife, Karen Viviana Thompson; her beloved grandson, David Alexander Thompson; her siblings, Maryann Apple and her husband, David Apple; her brother, James Anthony Malouf and his wife, Pamela Stern-Malouf; her sister, Patricia Ann Malouf and Antonio Cavazos Jr, and her wonderful nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many lifetime friendships.

Debbie will be recognized for her positive energy, dedication and love to her family, her sense of humor, and the kindness she demonstrated to everyone with whom she interacted.
