Debra Lee Simandl

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Debra Simandl. Debra passed peacefully on March 20, 2024 in DeKalb, Illinois. A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished friend to many, Debra's kind spirit and selfless heart will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Debra was preceded in death by her father, Henry J. Simandl Jr, and her mother, Dolores Simandl, whose legacy of love and family values she carried forward throughout her life.
Debra was raised in Lagrange Park and spent her adult life in Sycamore, Illinois, with her five children. Throughout her life, she worked with local agencies to facilitate numerous programs for low-income youth in Sycamore. She had a particular fondness for leading craft projects, always willing to lend a hand or share her creative talents to bring joy to others. Debra's faith in God was unwavering, her beliefs shaped her actions and brought her great comfort and solace.
Above all, Debra's world revolved around her family. Her five children and thirteen grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Crystal and Jase Holdcroft (daughter and son-in-law), Jillian and Alex Malloy (daughter and son-in-law), Lawrence and Jackie Kepp (son and daughter-in-law), Jeremy and Vanessa Kepp (son and daughter-in-law), and Elaine and Brad Parsons (daughter and son-in-law). The light of her love will continue to shine brightly in each of their lives.
Debra also leaves behind her siblings, Jerry and Janet Simandl (brother and sister-in-law), Cathy Danbrauskas (sister), Bob Quint (brother), Sue and Frank Wills (sister and brother-in-law), David and Caryl Simandl (brother and sister-in-law), Mary Ann Holbrook (sister), and nine nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Debra's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her loved ones. She always had a smile to share, a kind word to offer, and a helping hand to extend. Her spirit of generosity and her boundless love for her family will be her enduring legacy.
A celebration of Debra's wonderful life and the immeasurable impact she had on those around her will be held at a later date.
Her family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. It is a testament to Debra's life that she was so loved and will be so missed.
