Debra Ann Blair Turner was born on February 2, 1953, in Dallas, Texas, at Parkland Hospital to Dorthy Lynn and Delbert Blair. She was educated in the Dallas Independent School District and proudly graduated from L.G. Pinkston High School.
Debra had a heart full of love and a spirit that drew people in. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, always finding joy in laughter, good company, and trips to the casino. But one of her greatest passions in life was cooking. From a young age, she discovered a love for preparing meals; a love that grew into a lifelong devotion to the art of cooking. For over 40 years, she worked as a cook, doing what she loved and touching countless lives through her food.
Debra's home was the heart of every celebration. Every Christmas, New Year's, and Fourth of July, family and friends gathered at her home, not just for the occasion, but for the unforgettable meals she prepared with so much love. Her dishes brought people together, creating cherished memories that will live on for generations. Her food wasn't just nourishment, it was an expression of her love, and it made everyone feel at home.
Debra was preceded in death by her mother, Dorthy Lynn; father, Delbert Blair; bonus mother, Mable Neiel; and her dear love, Perry Trotter. She leaves behind a legacy of love and family, including her beloved daughter Monica Nicole Blair; grandchildren Tatyanna Gabriel, Deshawn Jones, and Kulture Brown; and her siblings Barbara Mayfield, Jimmy Ray Watson, Darnell Blair (Ann), Richard Blair (Merna), Vickie Holmes, Gail Steptoe (Michael), Tiny Webb (Donnie) and Kenneth Jackson. She also leaves behind her cherished niece Christine Harris Reed, nephew Tavares Ridge, and her beloved "Soap Opera Gang": Jackie Trotter, Hattie Walker, Flossy Collins, Sheila Trailer, Ivy Smith, Elizabeth Gardner, Cassandra Butler, and Rose Jennings-dear friends who shared in her laughter, stories, and daily joys.
Debra's life touched many, and she is remembered fondly by a host of family and friends whose lives were made brighter by her love. Debra's warmth, strength, and generosity will be deeply missed, but her legacy lives on in every shared memory, every recipe passed down, and every heart she touched.
