Debra Whitaker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Click Funeral Home & Cremations - Middlebrook Chapel on Apr. 9, 2024.
Debbie Whitaker, aged 62, of Knoxville, Tennessee, peacefully passed away at her residence on Thursday, April 4th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her cherished son, Tim Whitaker, and her beloved mother, Elizabeth Brooks.
Born and raised in Knoxville, Debbie was a graduate of Karns High School's class of 1978, later pursuing studies at the University of Tennessee. Her life took a profound turn with the birth of her son in 1980, and his passing eight years ago left an indelible mark on her heart.
Debbie's unwavering devotion to her family was exemplified by the roles of mother, daughter, sister, and friend with unparalleled attention. She selflessly tended to her parents for many years and found solace in the company of loved ones, particularly relishing moments spent with her grandson and beach vacations with her family. She possessed a zest for life, and approached every opportunity with an adventurous spirit.
Debbie leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, survived by her father, Carl Brooks; sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Kesler Butler; brother and sister-in-law, David and Donna Brooks; treasured grandson, John Whitaker; niece, Andrea, and her husband Cody Thompson; nephew, Chad, and his wife Rachel Brooks; nephew, Miles Butler; as well as several great-nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a dear companion, James Ball.
A celebration commemorating Debra's life will take place on Saturday, April 20th, from Noon to 2 PM, at the Elks Lodge, located at 5600 Lonas Road, Knoxville, 37909.

Debra and I lived on the same street a few houses apart when we were young. We spent hours playing jacks and cards, riding bikes, and talking about boys! She was a loyal friend! Love and prayers for her family!
