It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Debra Lynn Wilkinson (Davidson), who left us peacefully, surrounded by family, on March 20, 2024, at the age of 68, after a brief illness.
Debra was born in 1955, a cherished daughter of the late Vivian and Norwood Davidson. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Lindsey; adored grandchildren, Evelyn (13) and Owen (11); brothers, Dan, Dale, and Doug; and a large extended family of in-laws, nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, and grand-nieces. Her warmth, creativity, kindness, and adventurous spirit touched the lives of many friends and all who knew her.
A proud graduate of Hoover High School and Kent State University, Debra dedicated 32 years of her life to educating young minds as a music teacher in the Akron Public School district. Her passion for music and teaching resonated beyond the classroom as she continued to provide music lessons and volunteer her time leading singing sessions at local retirement homes. Her love for music and serving others also extended to her involvement in the church community, where she played an instrumental role in the children's and music groups at the Community Christian Church in North Canton.
An avid tennis player, Debra was an active member of the North Canton Racquet Club, where she and her team triumphed as state champions in 2014. She enjoyed spending time with her "Patio" friends, in addition to the numerous friendships she forged through work, school, and parenting.
Debra will be cremated in accordance with her wishes. A memorial visitation will be held at the Community Christian Church (210 N Main St, North Canton, OH 44720) from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2024, followed by a service at 11 a.m. Flowers can be sent to the church, or donations can be made in her honor to the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Center at https://give.ccf.org/give/212157/.
Debra's legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched with her generosity, compassion, and love for music. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
"The weights that hold us to this earth, let go at last in heaven's birth. And then unveil our inner worth. At last, we fly." - Excerpt from a poem by Debra Wilkinson, 2003.
