Dee Anna McCarthy, 85, of Benton, Wisconsin, formerly of Cuba City, Wisconsin, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Beginning Point Church, Benton, Wisconsin, with Pastor Rick Gault officiating. Burial will be in the Historical Benton Primitive Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8:00 p.m. Friday, June 20 at Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cuba City, Wisconsin, and from 12-12:45 p.m. Saturday at the church prior to the service.
Dee was born on June 18, 1939 in Lincolnville, Oklahoma, the daughter of Thomas and Dee (Crabtree) Ray. She farmed, worked as a cook in local supper clubs, and was a CNA for ten years at Lafayette Manor. Dee was longtime member of the Cuba City Lioness and conducted eye donation certification classes for the Lions Club. She was a founding member of the Cuba City Rescue Squad, and served as an EMT and ambulance driver for over 20 years. Dee also enjoyed teaching Presbyterian Sunday School for many years and baking. She was a proud member of the Quapaw Tribe.
Dee is survived by three daughters, Anna (Steve) Wonders, Darlington, WI, Amy (Dan) Classen, West Bend, IA, and Anita (Scott) Mueller, Benton, WI; two sons, Arnold (Rhonda) McCarthy, Jr., Cuba City, WI, and Anthony (Marcia) McCarthy, Anamosa, IA; two brothers, John Ray, Galena, IL, and Vernon Ray, DeKalb, IL; a sister-in-law, Darlene Ray, Galena, IL; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren, Samantha Mueller and Ryan Classen; a sister, Faye Nelle (Leonard) Plummer; four brothers, Thomas (Billie Ann) Ray, Jr., Charles (Shirley) Ray, Ahniwake (Dorothy) Ray and William Ray; and two sisters-in-law, Geraldine Ray and Nancy Ray.
Memorials in Dee’s name may be sent to the funeral home at 123 N. Jackson St., Cuba City, WI 53807.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jeffrey White, his nurse Kelsy, and the staff of Southwest Health for their wonderful care of Dee.
