It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dell John Grossman, age 83, who passed away on November 4, 2025.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Dell was the son of the late Chet Grossman and Dorothy Donaldson Ruth. In 1950 the family relocated to New Ellington South Carolina where Dell spent most of his childhood. His family then settled in Athens, Ga. Dell was a 1960 graduate of Athens High School and furthered his education at the University of Georgia.
Dell was a machinist by trade. He was employed by Athens Technical College where he developed and taught their Machine Tool Technology program for 18 years. In later years Dell drove a school bus for Elbert County where he enjoyed driving his bus and ensuring the children arrived safely to school in the morning and back home to their families each evening. Dell loved his family and animals. Dell spent many hours attending horse shows and competitions with his daughter Dusty. He coached little league for his son Danny several years where he was fondly known as “Mr G”. Dell also enjoyed attending dog shows with his prized Tibetan Mastiffs and was especially fond of his fur babies Nora, Abba and his beloved cat Frank.
Dell enjoyed spending time outdoors and at the beach and vacationed at Edisto South Carolina each summer. He also enjoyed his trips with his wife Eva as they traveled to Hawaii, up the East Coast to Maine, and out West where they explored many National parks.Dell had a quick wit, a generous heart, and a knack for making everyone laugh. He was incredibly organized, detail oriented, and took great pride in doing things the right way.
Survivors include his wife of 31 yrs Eva Melton Grossman; children; Suzanne (Pat) Smith, Daniel (Veronica) Grossman, Amy Tank, Melissa Weber, Kimberly Keenan and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
At the family's request there will be no services at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Dell was very loved and respected;he will be greatly missed and forever remembered......
