Rachael Baum Obituary

Rachael Elizabeth (Clark) Baum, aged 83, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025. Born October 29, 1942, she lived a life grounded in love of her family and enjoying the luxuries of life. Elizabeth, “Duh” to her sisters and “Liz” to others, was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerome S. Baum, and her parents Moses Hamilton and Isabel Hayes Clark.

Liz deeply loved her family, especially her cherished grandchildren who brought her immense joy. She is survived by her children Robert Jefferson Marsh III (Laurel) and Christopher Hamilton Marsh (Amy). As well as her grandchildren Mason Hamilton Marsh, Addison Grace Marsh, Christopher Hamilton Marsh II, Everett Reid Marsh, and Loralei Blythe Marsh. She is also survived by her husband’s children Garrett Adam Baum (Karen) and Courtney Baum Avichouser and their children Makena Ann Avichouser, Jordon Philip Baum, Hunter Kai Avichouser and Alex Ethan Baum. She is also survived by her sisters Marguerite Clark Kilpatrick, Irma Clark Sayyah, and Jane Clark Evans (Donald).

She began her higher education at Emory University and earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia, Athens. She ultimately earned her Master of Education from Georgia State University. She spoke fondly of her time as a Sorority member of Delta Delta Delta and was awarded membership in Alpha Delta Kappa and Phi Delta Kappa. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, as well as Hadassah. As an educator and ultimately a member of the Georgia Retired Education Association she gave tirelessly to her students, always encouraging them to do their best and reach beyond what they thought possible. Her passion for education and her unwavering belief in her students left a lasting impact on countless lives. She taught many children over the years in Gwinnett County, GA, DeKalb County, GA, Paulding County, GA, and Kehei, HI. While living in Evergreen, CO she served on the Jefferson County School District, RE-1 Board of Education.

Elizabeth will be remembered for her warmth, her strength, and her lifelong commitment to nurturing potential in others. Her legacy of love and encouragement will live on in all who knew her.
