Loyd E. Baum

Loyd E. Baum, 78, Sturgeon Bay, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 8, 2026. He was born July 8, 1947, to the late Walter and Dorothy (Funk) Baum and spent his childhood in Withee, WI where he enjoyed riding his bike to fish in Black River and graduated Owen-Withee High School class of ‘65.

Loyd was an avid gardener, herbalist, and music aficionado, attending every local Door County concert and frequenting the library whenever he could. He worked as a clerk at the Healthy Way Market in Sturgeon Bay for many years, where he enjoyed connecting people to the nutrient-dense foods, herbs, and natural remedies they needed, and delighted in sharing his passion with others. Even after retirement he always had an interesting musician or author to recommend, but Loyd will be most remembered for his kindness, positive attitude, and innate willingness to help.

Loyd is survived by his sisters, Ruth (Bill) Bender, formerly of Forestville, WI; and Joan (the late Darryl) Stallings, of Charlotte, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Dorothy Baum.
